The Four Chapters of Survival
The book is divided into four main parts: the hurting, the loving, the breaking, and the healing. Each section deals with a different kind of pain and a different way to overcome it. It talks about family, heartbreak, and finding strength within yourself.
Simple Words, Big Impact
Rupi Kaur does not use big or fancy words. She uses short sentences that feel like a punch to the heart. The poems are often very short, sometimes only a few lines. But they stay in your mind long after you finish reading them.
Visual Poetry
Every poem in this book is accompanied by a simple line drawing. These sketches help tell the story and make the feelings even more real. The drawings are as much a part of the book as the words themselves. It is a very visual and emotional experience.
Babar Raja’s Personal Review
Reading this on a flight from Stockholm to London
I read this book while traveling on a short flight from Stockholm to London. The plane was quiet, and the clouds outside looked like white mountains. Let me share how it felt. I usually like long stories, but these short poems really spoke to me. I felt like the author was talking directly to my soul.
When I was looking down at the North Sea, the section on ‘the healing’ really got to me. It made me think about all the times I had to be strong during my travels. It took me 3 nights to finish it properly because I wanted to think about every poem. I would read about 70 pages every night before sleeping at my hotel. This book connected with me because it reminds us that even after the worst pain, we can find sweetness again. My honest rating: 4.5/5.
What I Learned From This Book
I learned that you don’t need a lot of words to say something very important. Rupi Kaur taught me that healing is not a straight line. Sometimes you have to hurt before you can love again. The most powerful lesson for me was that we have to be our own best friends. We cannot wait for someone else to fix us. We have the “milk and honey” inside ourselves to heal our own wounds. It made me feel very peaceful and strong during my trip.
